The Petaluma Police Department is hosting its fifth Junior Officer Police Camp from March 23-26. The camp is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Lucchesi Center. This free four-day camp is an opportunity for the youth of Petaluma to learn more about the jobs accomplished by both the civilian and sworn personnel of the Petaluma Police Department.

Instructors from the Police Department will demonstrate many of the tools used and explain how each job is accomplished while demonstrating and communicating with the youngsters important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and a winning attitude. The Junior Officer Police Camp is for children in third through sixth grades “interested in becoming a leader, with a winning attitude, a willingness to be a team player, and an interest to learn more about the Petaluma Police Department,” according to a camp official.

Anyone interested can get an application on the Petaluma Police Department website or by contacting Heidi Borges at hborg es@ci.petaluma.ca.us or 781-1212.
