The Oklahoma Sooner football team lost one of its biggest fans on Jan. 18, 2015. Benjamin Thomas Feuerborn died in his sleep, after a courageous second bout with cancer. He loved one thing more than University of Oklahoma football, his wife of 33 years, Cheryl, who was the love of his life.

Feuerborn grew up in Oklahoma and graduated college there. He spent six years in the Army and was stationed in Alaska during that time. In the late 1960s, he moved to California and retired from working at San Quentin Prison in 2008.

According to his family, he was a heck of a dance partner, loved fried okra, cherished time spent with friends and family, and after retiring, enjoyed painting inside the art studio that he built for himself. He was an artist, photographer and master craftsman. He could fix absolutely anything.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Feuerborn; four children; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

There will not be a memorial service per the family’s wishes.
