A man allegedly under the influence of drugs forced a lockdown at Kenilworth Junior High School Wednesday morning when he drove his vehicle onto the campus blacktop and parked near a classroom.

Police arrested Jason Olliver, 38, of Petaluma for being under the influence of narcotics and trespassing on a school campus.

Students were locked inside their classrooms for approximate 20 minutes during the incident, according to Petaluma Police Sgt. Paul Gilman, who said police received the report of a man dressed all in black on the school campus on the campus at around 10:40 a.m. Gilman said the man apparently drove onto the campus through a gate left unlocked by a landscaping crew.

β€œThe school faculty did a fantastic job locking the campus down until police arrived,” Gilman said.

Some parents were upset that they were not immediately notified about the incident.

In an e-mail set this morning, the school district explained that only half the parents were notified yesterday because their computer system was down.
