Rachel Anderson worked her way into a management position after years in the service industry.

“I started working at Carrows restaurant 20-some years ago. I’m old,” Anderson joked. “I got into management at one point, but I didn’t like it. I went back to serving people. I love my job and I’m blessed to have this opportunity to serve others.”

Anderson has been selected Service Person of the Week for her efforts at the Palms Grill at 100 South McDowell Blvd.

Customers love Anderson’s approach to her job.

“She takes such good care of us,” said Myrna Haire. “Her smile makes me happy all day.”

“She’s terrific,” said Jan Stevens. “Friendly, accurate and fast.”

Anderson says the pleasure belongs to her.

“I’m blessed enough to have the same customers come back and it’s just a joy to get to know them,” said Anderson, the third of five weekly honorees.

Starting March 6, Argus-Courier readers will be able to vote on one of the five individuals chosen for this weekly honor as Service Person of the Year. The winner will be honored in the Argus-Courier and at the 2015 Community Awards of Excellence on March 26.

To nominate someone for Service Person of the Week, email yovanna.bieberich@arguscourier.com and explain why the nominee deserves consideration. Nominations will not be accepted by telephone.

Nominees can include the entire range of service industry jobs. Managers, supervisors and business owners are not eligible for the honor.
