Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a possible homicide in a rural neighborhood between Rohnert Park and Penngrove.

Investigators discovered a body inside a home in the 900 block of Rose Avenue, sheriff’s Lt. Carlos Basurto said. He declined to provide further information about the investigation.

Deputies were dispatched shortly before noon Thursday to the home on Rose Avenue, a one-lane rural road off Minnesota Avenue. Investigators placed yellow crime scene tape around a two-story ranch home at the end of a long driveway, surrounded by sprawling horse pastures and a cluster of chicken coops.

Deputies expanded the crime scene shortly before 2 p.m., taping off a white storage building across the street from the home.

A man and his sister lived in the home and rented out the chicken coops as storage units, according to a neighbor. Renters would have to traverse the long driveway to reach the storage units.
