Suspect arrested for violent assault in Petaluma

Warren Haley was arrested Thursday afternoon by Petaluma police in connection with an alleged violent assault on the 1800 block of Castle Drive.

When police responded to the reported assault, they were told that the suspect had fled on foot.

An investigation revealed Haley had gotten into an argument with, then assaulted the alleged victim. The victim was reportedly strangled.

Haley has two outstanding warrants that involved a felon being in possession of a firearm.

The police’s K-9 unit and the California Highway Patrol helicopter were deployed in the area to assist in the search. The CHP helicopter team alerted officers that a subject was spotted fleeing the area in a creek, headed toward Adobe Road.

The K-9 unit and officers were directed to an area on Adobe Road near Sonoma Mountain Road. The CHP helicopter squad saw the subject go under a bridge.

Officers arrived in the area and located Haley. The suspect had climbed up under the bridge and concealed himself in a small crawl space area.

Haley refused to comply with officers, but a Taser was used to take the suspect into custody

Haley was booked at the Sonoma County Jail.
