Gun arrest following Butter and Egg Days Parade

Petaluma police made a handful of arrests following Saturday’s Butter and Egg Day parade, most of which were alcohol-related.

While the family-oriented parade itself went off with no major problems, police said, in the hours afterward, several incidents at downtown bars required police intervention - including at least two incidents involving guns, according to law enforcement reports.

Officers arrested Devin Braddi, 21, of Santa Rosa on suspicion of making threats, brandishing a gun and carrying a concealed weapon after two incidents within an hour at bars on Kentucky Street.

Police were first called to the Roaring Donkey Bar by a man who reported Braddi showed a gun and threatened to kill him after the two bumped into each other waiting in line to get into the Kentucky Street bar, police said. Officers couldn’t find the suspect at the time, but about an hour later, the same victim reported seeing Braddi at the nearby McGuire’s Pub.

Police said the victim from the earlier incident approached Braddi and took the handgun out of his waistband. A fight ensued, in which Braddi received minor facial injuries. Police credited bar employees with securing the gun.

Later at McGuire’s, a doorman was assaulted by a man who he had previously denied entry into the bar. The man punched the employee several times in the face, then ran off. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Shortly after midnight, police were called to an incident on Water Street in which a man reported he and Jason Weiland, 33, of Petaluma had an argument and he believed Weiland had a gun, although he did not see it. Weiland was gone when officers arrived, but on Sunday evening, police saw him at Walnut Park and arrested him on outstanding arrest warrants.

During the arrest, officers found a replica firearm, police said.

About 4:40 p.m. Saturday, officers arrested a 20-year-old Petaluma on suspicion of drunken driving after a minor collision on Petaluma Boulevard at I Street.

At another Kentucky Street bar, the Hide-Away, two men got into a fight in which one ended up bleeding from his head after possibly being struck by a bottle, police said.

Employees detained a suspect, who was arrested, but the charges were later dropped.
