A new building under construction at Petaluma’s Deer Creek Village shopping center will house three new tenants, two of which have been confirmed, according to information from the project’s developer.

Heavy machinery began grading the site fronting North McDowell Boulevard this month. The planned 15,000-square-foot structure will including a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit facing the thoroughfare and nearly 10,000 square feet of medical office space, according to a map of tenants by the developer, Merlone Geier Partners.

The development’s anchor tenant, Friedman’s Home Improvement, first opened its doors in May of 2014. The site has also added three chain restaurants and a gym as tenants.

Deer Creek Village will include 325,000 square feet of commercial and office space when fully built, according to information from Merlone Geier.

The development also includes a dog park and fitness track on its northwest corner.

When built, the medical office will be the first office space in the development.
