The Petaluma Fire Department recorded 31 medical calls and 100 emergency calls during the week of June 22 through June 28, and responded to two fires outside of their regular reporting period. Here are a few of those reports:

MONDAY, JUNE 29

5:19 p.m. - Petaluma firefighters arrived at the scene of a house fire at 1578 Anna Way to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the backyard of the single-story home. The fire quickly spread into the interior of the home and up into the attic space. Crews were able to contain the fire to the exterior of the home and two rooms, and the fire was brought under control within 25 minutes. The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage and displaced four adults and two pets living there. There were no injuries to the residents or the pets, and the Red Cross assisted the residents with housing. The Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District and Cal Fire responded to the scene, with the Wilmar, San Antonio and Lakeville Volunteer Fire Departments providing station coverage during the incident.

TUESDAY, JUNE 30

1 p.m. - The Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District joined the Petaluma Fire Department and a number of other agencies in responding to a brushfire that burned between five and 10 acres on the top of Sonoma Mountain on Tuesday. Smoke was clearly visible rising east of Petaluma as firefighters battled the blaze, roughly one half of a mile southwest of Jack London State Park. The fire did not burn any structures or cause any injury, but firefighters did work to protect structures in the surrounding area.
