Fire torches Petaluma business

A commercial building on Lakeville Street in Petaluma went up in flames on July 1, forcing a temporary road closure as firefighters from multiple agencies battled the blaze.

The fire was first reported at 450 Lakeville St. at 7:48 p.m.

The three-unit, single-story building houses a flooring business and a construction business, among others.

Firefighters from Petaluma responded and found the middle unit in flames. Cal Fire, Rancho Adobe, Sonoma Valley, and Sonoma County helped battle the fire.

Lakeville Street from Jefferson Street to Lindberg Lane was closed requiring a detour.

The fire was knocked down quickly. One firefighter was injured when equipment they were carrying fell onto their foot. The fire did $30,000 to $50,000 in damage, according to the Petaluma Fire Department.
