Two men who were already in jail on other charges, are facing additional ones in connection with the robbery of a Petaluma gas station on May 11.

Petaluma Police investigated the robbery, which occurred around 1:03 p.m. at the Texaco gas station at 421 Petaluma Blvd. South.

Police say Nirut Gowing, 32, and Loren Burke, 28, both transients from Santa Rosa, had entered the store, attempted to restrain the clerk and fled after taking several packs of cigarettes off the counter.

Subsequent investigation suggested Gowing and Burke were the suspects responsible for the robbery. Both Gowing and Burke were interviewed at Sonoma County Jail on July 2. They were in custody on individual charges not relating to this investigation.

Both Burke and Gowing admitted to the crime, and were subsequently arrested for robbery.
