Elizabeth Robertson has been appointed conductor of the Petaluma Children’s Chorus. Robertson, a former Petaluma City Schools music teacher and Petaluma High School choral director, will be a familiar face to many Petaluma families. She joins the Chorus with more than a decade of musical expertise and a proven reputation for community engagement.

Robertson is “particularly excited to expand the Chorus to include Petaluma’s youngest singers,” because they are not always exposed to music during their regular school day.

Starting next month, singers age 5-8 will be invited to join the Preparatory Chorus. During the first half-hour of Chorus rehearsal, participants will be exposed to choral singing through songs, music games, and beginning music reading. Preparatory singers will perform at the Chorus’ Winter and Spring Concerts in December and May.

Started by Linda Evans Manuilow in 2012, the Petaluma Children’s Chorus has steadily built a reputation for quality music education. The Chorus welcomes singers ages 5 through 18. Rehearsals are every Monday at St. John’s Episcopal Church from 4:30 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. during the August through May school year.

All interested singers are encouraged to attend an upcoming rehearsal.
