Petaluma police said they are attempting to track down a man suspected of stealing a gas-powered generator from a local Friedman’s Home Improvement store last Friday.

The man, depicted in store surveillance footage, is said to have left the store through a fire exit around 6:36 p.m. on April 22, pushing the generator along in a shopping cart. The exit triggered an alarm, but employees told police they did not notice anything suspicious upon investigation.

The suspect is described as a white male between 25 and 30 years old and around five feet, 10 inches tall. He is said to weigh around 220 pounds, sport a dark-colored mustache and beard and was last seen wearing a black shirt under a blue-and-white plaid overshirt, khaki-colored pants and light grey shoes.

Those with information about the case are asked to contact the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372.
