Two suspected serial burglars remained in the Sonoma County Jail Tuesday morning, following their arrest by Petaluma police detectives investigating a series of thefts from homes being renovated.

The burglaries have occurred in the last several months at unoccupied houses, mainly on Petaluma’s west side, according to police in a news release.

Taken were a mixture of items, including fixtures, faucets, paint, tools and construction equipment.

During the investigation detectives began watching the two men and connected them to a burglary at a house on Sunnyslope Avenue. Detectives stopped the men and found they had construction equipment from the home, police said, as well as items from other burglaries.

Detectives arrested Kevin Atherton, 64, of Petaluma and Bradley Holl, 52, of Sacramento on suspicion of two felony burglaries charges. They were each being held on $100,000 bail.
