From the forest-like parks to affordable avocados, here are 24 things about Sonoma County you’ll miss if you go, shared by someone who should know.|

After years in Sonoma County, I’ve moved back to my western New York hometown and as the saying goes, I didn’t know what I had until it was gone. The weather, food, wine, people and emphasis on health and wellness make this region of Northern California one of the best places in the world to live.

Luther Burbank knew it back in the 1870s when he asserted, “I firmly believe, from what I have seen,

that this is the chosen spot of all this earth as far as Nature is concerned.”

But it is not just the environment that makes this area appealing, the people - quirky, charming, hardworking and warm - make us proud to call Sonoma County our home.

Since I’ve been gone, here are the 24 things I miss the most about my Sonoma County home.
