Petaluma’s Star Staffing opens Sacramento-area office

Because of increased demand for manufacturing and wine-related jobs, Petaluma-based Star Staffing has opened a sixth office, this time in the Sacramento area.

The new location in Elk Grove comes as NRC Manufacturing, a Fremont-based circuit board maker, plans to have more than 600 manufacturing and management jobs in a soon-to-be-built 50,000-square-foot facility. By end of next year, a second phase of the project could add to two additional buildings to create a 230,000-square-foot campus for up to 2,500 employees.

The growing agency had been serving clients in the Sacramento area - predominantly in wine and manufacturing - from its Fairfield office. Also, as American consumer demand for wine increases, grapegrowers in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys are positioned strongly for the future and will need to fill a range of positions in the Lodi, Stockton and Modesto areas.

“This is an exciting time for our company,” said Nicole Smartt, vice president and co-owner. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in the past few years and are thrilled to be opening a new location that will benefit both our clients and the community. We’ve had our eye on this territory for a few years and after many conversations with our clients, it became clear that there was a real need for an office near the San Joaquin Valley.”

On June 14, Star Staffing will host a job fair and ribbon-cutting celebration at the new location, 9425 Laguna Springs Dr., Ste. 200. The job fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the ribbon cutting will take place at noon. Both events are open to the public.

Star Staffing (starhr.com) currently has 33 employees and will be adding more recruiters to each branch, including three at the new Elk Grove location. The company was founded in 1998 and is led by co-owners Smartt and Lisa Lichty. It has offices in Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Napa, Fairfield and Elk Grove plus satellite locations in Sonoma and Ukiah. The company was recently awarded Best Place to Work and named Best Job Placement Service in the North Bay.
