Tanker truck crash in east Petaluma blocks Adobe Road

An overturned tractor-trailer rig with a load of milk blocked an east Petaluma commute route early Monday, according to the CHP.

The milk didn’t spill in the 5:15 a.m. crash but the huge vehicle was stopped across eastbound Adobe Road. Westbound drivers were able to get through initially until about 7:20 a.m. when efforts were underway to right the huge vehicle. CHP then closed the westbound lane. It wasn’t known how long it would take to clear the road.

The rig driver apparently lost control and the tractor-trailer rig drove off of the road. As it got into the ditch the whole thing toppled onto one side.

Adobe Road was closed between Corona and Lynch roads to eastbound drivers, who were directed to use Corona Road. With the full closure, westbound drivers were directed to East Washington and Sonoma Mountain Parkway.

Adobe Road runs along the eastern edge of Petaluma and is a busy commute alternative to Highway 101.
