Mendocino Wine Co. announced Thursday that it has purchased the wine portfolio of OFFbeat Brands of Petaluma.

OFFbeat was formed in 2012 by Mike Kenton to appeal to Generation X and millennial wine drinkers. Its wines have names such as Zin-Phomaniac, Tie-Dye, Jellybean and Slices Sangria. Kenton had previously worked at Artesa Winery, E&J Gallo Winery, and Chateau St. Jean Winery.

“We’re excited to be adding this collection of fast growing wines to our portfolio of well-recognized Heritage brands,” said Gary Glass, president of Mendocino Wine Co. “In addition, we are fortunate that Mike will be joining us in a senior leadership role working closely with the executive team to drive new innovation and to lead strategic channel management.”

Mendocino Wine Co. is owned and operated by the Thornhill family in Ukiah. Its parent company filed suit earlier this year against vintner Phil Hurst and the subsidiary of Truett-Hurst Inc., alleging it helped winemaker Paul Dolan in a breach of fiduciary duties with the Ukiah winery.
