The Petaluma Fire Department recorded 37 medical calls and 69 emergency calls during the week of July 11 through July 17. Here are a few of those reports.

FRIDAY, July 15

12:49 p.m. - A convex mirror positioned in a fatefully unfortunate orientation was suspected as the culprit in a fire at 1537 Tamar Dr., having possibly caught the sun just right to direct a concentrated pinpoint of searing light that caused a pile of mulch to ignite on Friday, according to the Petaluma Fire Department. The fire had grown to involve a portion of a fence and an exterior shed at the property by the time firefighters arrived to quickly extinguish the blaze.
