TUESDAY, Aug. 16

Firefighters arrived to find a smoldering fire that had mostly been put out by passersby, but crews snuffed out the remaining hot spots. It appeared that the fire had started in a green waste can before spreading to a nearby fence. Radiant heat damaged the exterior paint on a neighbor’s house and burned a car bumper. Damage was estimated at $2,000, according to initial reports.

When they arrived, it was determined that the male motorcycle rider had allegedly been speeding, weaving through traffic and knocking off vehicle mirrors before crashing into a ditch. He was transported by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries and complaints of minor body pain.
