Petaluma Police Monday were investigating a potential overdose after the body of a man was found on Lindberg Lane near the Lakeville Street Lucky supermarket.

Emergency responders were called to Lindberg Lane between Lakeville and Payran streets at 8:15 a.m. because of an unresponsive person behind the grocery store, dispatchers said. Sgt. Ed Crosby said detectives were investigating the possible overdose of a man.

Crosby said that the man, 30, was known to police officers, and may have recently become homeless. He said the name of the man would be released after his family has been notified.

The incident comes nearly two weeks after the body of 23-year-old Matthew Stinson was discovered outside of a business on East Washington Street. Stinson, a homeless man, died of an apparent methamphetamine overdose.

Crosby said the two cases are not related. Monday’s death is being investigated as a possible fentanyl overdose, he said.
