A Petaluma man has died of injuries he suffered when he was hit by a car while walking down a street, police said Sunday.

Andres Solorio, 23, was hit Friday night as he walked westbound near the bicycle lane in the 500 block of Lakeville Street, Petaluma police Corporal Paul Accornero said. He said Solorio apparently moved into the path of a Volkswagen Golf, also headed west, driven by Brian Bianucci, 27, also of Petaluma, Accornero said.

He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with injuries to his head and side of his body, the corporal said.

Solorio died the next day at 4:21 p.m., he said.

The man’s identity was not initially released because officers were contacting his family, Accornero said.
