PEF awards 13 Impact grants to Petaluma-area schools

Thirteen Petaluma-area schools have received Petaluma Educational Foundation Impact Grant Awards for the 2016-17 school year.

Grants range from $5,000 to Penngrove Elementary School for its Grow It, Eat It, Share It program to $15,000 to Loma Vista Immersion Academy for its Dual Immersion Library Development Program.

Since 1983, PEF has awarded more than $3.1 million to Petaluma area schools through the annual grant program.

The program supports effective instructional ideas, student access and impact and innovation aligned with a school or district’s overall goals.

PEF does not receive any public funding. Its programs are supported by individual, community, corporate partners and others. It also receives support from other education programs.

The grant recipients for the current school year include:

Two Rock Elementary School: $13,227 for media systems to support student learning.

Casa Grande High School: $14,575 for television and digital media equipment supporting journalism.

Kenilworth Junior High School: $13,200 for its fitness lab expansion.

McDowell Elementary School: $8,141 for its Empowerment Through Learning Out Loud program.

Corona Creek Elementary School: $14,793 for its Garden and Greenhouse Project.

Penngrove Elementary School: $5,000 for its Grow It, Eat It, Share It program.

St. Vincent High School: $14,464 for its Art and Digital Media programs.

McNear Elementary School: $7,686 for its Elementary Engineering program.

Loma Vista Immersion Academy: $15,000 for its Dual Immersion Library Development program.

McKinley Elementary School: $15,000 for its Unlocking the Code STEM Robotics program.

Petaluma High School: $14,944 for its News Reporting in the Mix Journalism and Digital Media program.

Petaluma High School: $14,875 for expanded instruction in its physical education program.

Harvest Christian School: $13,352 for its Library Media and Resource Initiative.

PEF Impact Grant applications for the 2017-2018 school year are due next October.
