Police Friday arrested a former employee of a Petaluma-based beverage equipment service business after a week-long investigation into allegations that she’d cashed 26 checks amounting to more than $36,000 from the company’s account.

On Jan. 10, staff from Dolce Neve, which offers beverage, café and barista equipment, contacted the Petaluma Police Department to report that former employee Rebecca Andrea Nommsen-Miller had cashed checks from the company account at various local banks and businesses, police said in a news release.

Nommsen-Miller, a 40-year-old Rohnert Park resident, worked at the Dolce Neve for three weeks from late September 2016 to mid-October 2016, police said. The loss was discovered after she left the company,

Officers arrested Nommsen-Miller around 3 p.m. Jan. 20 after she attempted to pass another forged check at a market in the Plaza North Shopping Center, according to the news release.

After her arrest, detectives served a search warrant at her residence and found additional evidence, police said.

Nommsen-Miller was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of burglary and forgery related charges. Her bail was set at $100,000, police said.
