Gaucho Gazette again Overall Excellence winner

The Casa Grande Gazette was again chosen the Overall Excellence student newspaper in the Redwood Empire.|

Casa Grande High School’s Gaucho Gazette has repeated as Overall Excellence winner in The Press Democrat’s High School Journalism Awards.

The overall excellence award comes with a $500 prize. The Gazette won the top prize over Healdsburg High’s The Hound’s Bark (second) and Santa Rosa High’s Santa Rosan (third).

The Gazette also took third place in Design & Layout.

In addition, the Gazette staff took many individual awards.

Jessica Tang took second in column writing. Ella Ban won first in editorial writing. Annie Gallo and Sonia Goetschius were first in feature writing. Holly Keaton won first in news coverage and first in feature photos. Alejandro Paredes placed second in feature photos. Polly Parakul won first in review writing. Patrick Mantoani and Katie Marr placed second in sports writing.
