A Santa Rosa man out of jail two days was back in Monday, after his arrest late Sunday morning in east Petaluma involving suspected theft, according to Petaluma police.

Petaluma police suspect Kyle Timothy Summers, 24, stole items from an AT&T store on North McDowell Boulevard.

Bystanders flagged down an officer in the 1300 block of the boulevard about 11:40 a.m., reporting a suspicious man carrying boxes of electronics. That was about the time officers were called to the nearby store regarding a theft.

Officers spotted and chased the suspect, who ran into Kohl’s department store. Several officers took him into custody and one suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Summers was arrested on suspicion of two counts of retail burglary plus resisting arrest. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail Sunday afternoon. He’d been released from jail on Friday after posting bail involving a felony vandalism case, according to police.

The suspected stolen items were returned to the store.
