A Petaluma teenager riding her bicycle east of town Wednesday suffered a broken wrist and lost some teeth when she was struck by a car.

Jennifer Mondragon, 18, got off a bus around 5:11 p.m. near the intersection of Old Adobe Road and Stage Gulch Road and took her bicycle off the front of the bus.

For unknown reasons she then rode it into the path of a gray Toyota Camry driven by Kaye Schleich, 57, of Fairfield. The cyclist hit the left front side of the car and hit the ground.

“It sounds like the cyclist ran right into the car,” Sgt. Erik Egide said.

Mondragon was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The driver was released without a citation because it didn’t appear she violated any traffic laws in the accident, Egide said.
