An armed man robbed a Petaluma See’s Candies store Friday, escaping with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect walked into the South McDowell Boulevard candy store just before 7 p.m., flashed a gun he pulled from his backpack at a clerk and demanded money, Petaluma police said. He then fled on foot. It’s unknown whether he jumped into a vehicle after that. Officers combed the area but weren’t able to find the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a white male about 50 to 55 years old. He was wearing a blue button-down shirt with a black shirt underneath, blue jeans and a blue baseball hat. He also was carrying a green backpack.

Anyone with information on the suspect should call the Petaluma Police Department at 707-778-4372.
