List of Sonoma County events canceled due to local fires

Here are the events that have been postponed or canceled due to fire damage or fire support purposes.|

In the wake of fires sweeping Sonoma County this week, many previously scheduled events have been canceled or postponed, either because the venues have been destroyed or because the venues now serving as evacuation centers.

Other events have been canceled or postponed because participants have been evacuated from their homes, or simply of out respect for those coping with the crisis. Cancellations and schedule updates include:

Luther Burbank Center for the Arts - The main theater is still standing, but the east wing, including a smaller auditorium, has been destroyed. Events through Sunday, including Friday night’s Yandel concert, are canceled. The venue’s web site has yet to be updated, but look for future updates at lutherburbankcenter.org.

Green Music Center - Friday’s Garrison Keillor show is canceled, as well as Saturday’s performance by the Academy of St. Marin in the Fields. gmc.sonoma.edu

Sonoma County Fairgrounds - The fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, serving this week as an evacuation center, has canceled all events for this weekend, including Saturday’s Les Schwab Monster Truck Rally. sonomacountyfair.com.

Santa Rosa Junior College - All events at the Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses have been canceled. Lumafest and the Shone Farm Festival, both originally set for Saturday, and performances of “It Can’t Happen Here,” meant to run through the weekend, all have been canceled. The Mystic Theatre - The live music venue in Petaluma offered a daytime evacuation center Tuesday through Thursday. Free meal schedule: breakfast, 9-11 a.m.; lunch, noon-3 p.m.; dinner, 5-8 p.m. Check for show information at mystictheatre.com.

Occidental Center for the Arts - The Lisa Lynne & Aryeh Frankfurter Concert set for Saturday is postponed and will be rescheduled. occidentalcenterforthearts.org

Sonoma County Art Trails - The annual two-weekend open studio tour, featuring more than 140 artists throughout Sonoma County, has been delayed from Oct. 14-15 and Oct. 21-22. The event will now run Oct. 21-22 and Oct. 28-29. sonomacountyarttrails.org.

Sonoma Valley Museum of Art - The downtown Sonoma museum has canceled Saturday’s opening reception for two new exhibits: David Ligare’s “Magna Fide (The Great Belief)” and “Forge and Stone: Works by Contemporary California Women Sculptors.” A statement from the museum added: “In the coming weeks, Sonoma Valley Museum of Art will be open to the public free of charge as a safe place to gather.” 707-939-7862, svma.org.

Paradise Ridge Winery - This venue has been destroyed by fire. Press Democrat columnist Gaye LeBaron’s “History of Food & Wine in Sonoma County” talk, originally slated for Friday and sponsored by the History Museum of Sonoma County, will be rescheduled. “Dancing in the Light” - This equestrian performance at Belos Cavolos in Kenwood had been scheduled for this weekend, with a sold-out show Saturday night and an additional matinee added for Sunday. The event has now been rescheduled for next May. beloscavalos.org.

“Sonoma Laughfest”: Canceled. A weekend-long festival featuring more than 50 standup comics had been scheduled at several venues, including Luther Burbank Center. sonomalaughfest.com.

“The Rainmaker”: Sonoma Arts Live’s opening weekend of the classic play, scheduled to commence on Friday, Oct. 13, has been postponed. Currently, the plan is for the show to open on Oct. 20, at Andrews Hall in the Sonoma Community Center, Sonoma. SonomaArtsLive.org.

“Steel Magnolias”: 6th Street Playhouse, in Santa Rosa, has postponed its Oct. 13 opening weeekend of the popular drama. Currently, the theater anticipates opening the show on Oct. 20. 6thstreetplayhouse.com

“Into the Woods”: Young Actors Studio’s production of the Stephen Sonheim musical will not be opening this weekend, but is expe cted to open the following weekend at The Raven Theater in Healdsburg. Youngactors.studio.
