PHS holds preview for eighth graders

Petaluma High School will hold a Preview Showcase to introduce eighth graders and their families to high school.|

Petaluma High School will introduce eighth-graders and their parents to the world of high school education with a ninth-grade Preview Showcase on Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Petaluma High gym.

During the evening, current students and staff will describe various programs and pathways at Petaluma High, as well as provide an overview of the new students’ four years at the high school. Eighth-graders will tour the school and experience thes programs first hand.

They will have time to ask questions and seek further information.

The Ninth-Grade Preview will replace an evening traditionally presented in January.

“We are proud of our school and the amazing academic and athletic programs here,” said Petaluma High Principal David Stirrat. “Our physical infrastructure is modernizing, with the new Ellison Field set to debut this spring and our swimming pool potentially by fall of 2018. Our engineering, health, ag mechanics and business pathways are offering students unique high school experiences that will serve them well in the post-secondary environment.

“Our standardized test scores continue to be some of the best in the county. It’s an exciting time to be a Trojan and we welcome the incoming freshmen to the possibility of that experience.”
