Steven Cozza’s Race for Kids nonprofit organization, noted for its help for the area’s children, quickly refocused its efforts to helping fire victims.

The nonprofit organized a Fire Relief Fund and raised $24,750 to help set up and fund temporary Petaluma shelters until Red Cross support arrived.

The money helped provide items like food, toiletries, bedding, underwear, socks and other items.

In addition, funds were donated to the Petaluma People Services Center, Mentor Me Petaluma, the Sonoma County Animal Shelter, Equi-Ed and the Sonoma County Advocates for Youth.
