A Petaluma woman remained in the Sonoma County Jail Tuesday, suspected of drunken driving when she ran a red light and hit another vehicle, according to Petaluma police.

Danielle Carter, 32, was arrested by Petaluma police Sunday night, suspected of felony DUI causing an injury and driving with a suspended license stemming from an earlier DUI arrest, Sgt. Andrew Urton said in a news release issued Tuesday.

The crash occurred about 7:40 p.m. on Old Redwood Highway at North McDowell Boulevard.

Carter was trapped in the wreckage and freed by Petaluma firefighters. A passenger in the second car was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital, treated for an injury and released.

An investigation determined Carter failed to stop for the traffic light and caused the crash, Urton said. Her bail was set at $100,000.
