A hiker who fell early Monday afternoon in Taylor Mountain Regional Park was flown by helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

First responders were called at 12:55 p.m. for a man with a head injury in the county park. Rincon Valley and Cal Fire firefighters and the Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter responded.

Responders were told the 59-year-old Santa Rosa man had tripped and fallen, said Sonoma County sheriff’s Sgt. Pete Quartarolo, who supervises the sheriff’s helicopter program.

The injured man was found off the Western and Connector trails and the helicopter was able to land about 75 yards away, Quartarolo said. Firefighters and paramedics gave medical aid and loaded him into the helicopter for the short flight to the hospital. The man’s name wasn’t available Monday afternoon.

Taylor Mountain is in southeast Santa Rosa off Kawana Terrace and Petaluma Hill Road.
