Sonoma County’s hotel sector has received nearly $20 million in added revenue since October’s wildfires, a 27 percent increase from a year earlier.

Hotel revenues totaled ?$93 million for a four-month period from November through February, travel research company STR reported Wednesday.

The wildfires burned three hotels in Sonoma County, and fire survivors filled the remaining lodging properties in a scramble to gain temporary housing.

The pace continued in February, when hotel revenues climbed 29.5 percent from a year earlier to nearly $22.2 million. The average occupancy rate last month was 81.2 percent, compared to 69.1 percent a year earlier.

The county’s average room rate increased 12 percent to $155.26.

STR last month tracked results for 6,282 hotel rooms in the county, down from 6,647 in September.
