Police are searching for a pair of thieves who unsuccessfully tried to rob a store at the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets on Saturday.

The suspects were both black, around age 20, and were described as being between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-5 inches tall, wearing black t-shirts with designer jeans and Air Jordan sneakers.

On July 26 around 3:30 p.m., the two men entered a designer perfume store at the outlets and began filling the messenger bags they each carried with boxes of perfume. When an employee confronted them and told them to stop, one of the men pulled out a can of pepper spray. While he did not spray, the clerk’s scream caused the two men to run out of the store.

Neither mall security not the Petaluma Police Department could locate the suspects after they left the store. The $800 in merchandise stolen was recovered outside of the store.

Anyone who witnessed the event is asked to contact the Petaluma Police Department or text an anonymous tip to 888777.
