Casa’s Gaucho Gazette 7th in US

Casa Grande High School’s Gaucho Gazette student newspaper took seventh place and its staff collected numerous individual honors in a national competition.|

Casa Grande High School’s Gaucho Gazette student newspaper added to its already glowing reputation by winning a bundle of awards at the National High School Convention in Seattle. The convention is sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association.

The Gaucho Gazette finished seventh nationally in Best of Show.

In addition, Gazette staff members won a bundle of individual awards.

Karina King earned an Excellent rating for news writing.

Jessia Tang earned an Excellent rating for editorial writing.

Skyler Genelly earned an Excellent rating for feature writing.

Annie Gallo earned an Excellent rating for sports writing.

Ophelia Chiang earned an Honorable Mention rating for editorial cartooning.

Ella Ban earned an Honorable Mention for commentary writing.

Holly Keaton earned an Excellent rating for press law and ethics.

Zach McGunable earned an Honorable Mention rating for graphic design: photo illustration.

Alejandro Paredes earned an Honorable Mention rating in first-year photo.

Tess Hughes earned an Excellent rating for on-air reporter.
