Summer break over

Most schools open on Wednesday, but all start next week.|

Even as crews rush to complete summer construction projects, teachers are putting the finishing touches on their classrooms in preparation for the beginning of another school year. School begins for real next week, with most classrooms opening on Wednesday, Aug. 16.

All Petaluma City Schools, with the exception of Mary Collins at Cherry Valley and Penngrove, start Wednesday. The school year will run through June 1, with winter break Dec. 22-Jan. 5 and spring break March 19-23.

Mary Collins at Cherry Valley and Penngrove have been back in school since July 19. There will be a fall break Sept. 25-Oct. 16, a winter break Dec. 22-Jan. 5 and a spring break March 19-30.

All Old Adobe School District schools - Old Adobe, La Tercera, Loma Vista, Miwok Valley and Sonoma Mountain - will open Aug. 16 under the direction of new superintendent Craig Conte.

The Waugh School District - Corona Creek and Meadow School - will open its classrooms on Aug. 15.

New Cinnabar School superintendent/principal Sandy Doyle will meet parents at a back-to-school barbecue on Aug. 14 with school opening Aug. 16.

Two Rock School will hold an ice cream social on Aug. 14, with school opening Aug. 16.

First day for Liberty School will also be Aug. 14.

Wilson School will hold a back-to-school night Aug. 15 and begin classes Aug. 17.
