Santa Rosa Junior College will remain closed through Oct. 22. Officials cited danger due to fire, smoke and changing weather conditions, and challenges for affected students and employees. More than 200 students and employees have lost their homes, and hundreds have had to evacuate. SRJC will continue to monitor the situation and will reopen when fire and air quality conditions make it safe to return.

SRJC officials encourage faculty, staff and students who have been heavily impacted by the fires to contact SRJC for support.

All classes and activities are cancelled at the following campuses and sites:

• Santa Rosa (including theatre performances)

• Petaluma

• Southwest Santa Rosa

• Shone Farm in Forestville

Cancellation includes online classes, Community Education, Older Adults and Adult Education classes.

SRJC has developed substantial resources for students, faculty and staff who have been seriously affected by the fires. A list of resources is available in the SRJC Fire Response website, available at www.santarosa.edu.

The college also has created a Student Support Center to answer calls and emails Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. SRJC will be open for walk-in support as soon as it is safe to return. Students should contact studentaffairs@santarosa.edu or 527-4424.

Faculty and staff who have been heavily impacted by the fires, or who have resources to share with other SRJC employees, should contact Susan Muskar in Human Resources, smuskar@santarosa.edu or 524-1624.

The SRJC Fire Relief Fund (firerelief.santarosa.edu) has been established to support the urgent needs of current students and employees, and the SRJC Foundation has made an initial gift of $100,000. The college asks alumni, retirees, community and business partners to donate if they are able to help. Distribution of funds will start as early as next week. Application information is available at www.santarosa.edu.
