Poll respondents favor replacing Obamacare

A majority of respondents to an online Argus-Courier poll said the Affordable Care Act should be replaced. Republicans in Congress this week introduced a bill to replace the law known as Obamacare, and Rep. Jared Huffman, D- San Rafael, held a town hall meeting in Petaluma on healthcare.

Here are some comments:

“Obamacare has been built on lies from the start. Remember these quotes, ‘You can keep your doctor if you like him/her,’ and ‘You can keep your current plan if you like it’?”

“Actually it needs to be improved not replace or left alone. It was not a perfect plan to begin with, but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. Fix what’s broke, keep what works.”

“By all means replace it if you can come up with something better for everyone, but otherwise leave well enough alone.”

“It doesn’t help the middle class. Replace with single payer.”

“It needs to be tweaked to ensure its longevity. It is so expensive to cover only 20-30 million people.”

“Our insurance premiums tripled in price even though my husband and I rarely go to the doctor and have no pre-existing conditions. This plan was never fair.”

“Repealed, with no replacement. It was passed illegally, designed to fail and send everyone to single payer government healthcare.”

“Some aspects of the law are good and will be kept, but too many people have been adversely affected with high rates and deductibles. Huffman should get on the Trump train.”

“The people of the U.S. should be allowed to price the best premiums for their health care. We should be allowed to shop around for the coverage that suits our needs.”
