For decades, the city has discussed building a cross-town connector to allow drivers to get from one side of town to the other on Rainier Avenue. However, full funding for the project has never become available. While a proposed sales tax measure could help fill city coffers, most who took part in this week’s unofficial online poll feel the roadway will never be built. Here were some of the comments:

“Don’t fool yourself; this project will never be completed.”

-

“Rainier comes up every two years when there is an election. It then dies without anything ever being done.”

-

“I just can’t see the political and financial winds blowing together on this one. I think most agree that the undercrossing would be beneficial, though.”

-

“Funding will continue to be a problem.”
