St.Vincent suffered a disappointing loss to rival Sonoma Academy, losing, 4-3, despite a strong second-half comeback.

Sonoma Academy led at the half, 3-1, before the Mustangs fought back with two goals in the second half.

Grace Hoebein scored two goals and Katie Gross one for the Mustangs with both Katie and Mella Gross providing assists.

Chloe Colber scored two goals to lead Sonoma Academy.

Sonoma Academy is now 11-0-1 in North Central league II play, with the tie coming against St. Vincent, while the Mustangs are 9-1-2.

Lexi Martinez scored in the second half to give Casa Grande a 1-1 tie with Rancho Cotate.

Kyline Belloti scored for Rancho Cotate in the first half, Martinez booted in the equalizer in the second, and the teams played two scoreless overtime periods to arrive at the split decision.

It was a different story for the Gauchos as they took on Montgomery on the Casa field and were beaten, 5-1.

Emma Oroso scored three goals to lead the Vikings.

Casa’s goal came from Amanda Galbraith in the second half.

Petaluma scored two goals in the first half, and made them stand good for a 2-1 win over Sonoma Valley in a game played at Petaluma. Ami Keen and Markie McHugh scored for the Trojans, while Amy Stanfield got Sonoma close with a goal in the second half.

Boys soccer

Casa Grande couldn’t get a goal past Rancho Cotate goalie Chris Mendoza, who blanked the Gauchos, 2-0.

Adrian Fontanelli and Kai Dooley scored the Rancho Cotate goals.

Petaluma scored three goals in the first half and went on to a 3-0 shutout of Sonoma Valley in a Sonoma County League game played at Petaluma.

Marco Silveira led the Trojans with two goals, while Max Crysdale added one. Ben Seymore, Tyler Guptill and Tarwinder Purewal each had an assist.

Marco Silvera scored in the first half and the tough Trojan defense made it stand good for a 1-0 win over Healdsburg.

Petaluma is now 7-1-1 in Sonoma County League play and 12-4-2 on the season.

Girls golf

Sara Jane Catarozoli shot a solid 44, but it wasn’t quite good enough to win for Petaluma, as the Trojans lost to El Molino, 276-280 at the Northwood Golf Club.

Jamie Holden and Tara Thomas each shot 54 for Petaluma, while Izzy Southard had a 58 and Millie Lekovitz a 70.

Petaluma bounced back to beat Piner, 275-322, at Bodega Harbor. Catarozoli led the Trojans with a 45, with Cheda shooting a 54, Thomas a 56, Southard a 59 and Holden a 61.

Emma Dennett shot a 48 at Adobe Creek to lead the host Casa Grande Gauchos to a 299-316 win over Rancho Cotate.

Dennett was backed by Rose Dagnino with a 51, Kerrianne McCarthy with a 62, Shelby Althuzien with a 65 and Hannah Luiz with a 67.

Casa Grande couldn’t keep the momentum, losing to Santa Rosa, 302-308, in a match played at Fountaingrove.

Dennent led the Gauchos with a 53, with McCarthy shooting a 58, Dagnino a 63, Althuzien a 63 and Natalie Micco a 71.

Kara Curry took medalist honors for Santa Rosa with a 40.

Girls tennis

Petaluma’s drive through the Sonoma County League continued with a 6-1 victory over Sonoma Valley.

Maddie Thomas, Nicoline Pedersen, Kim Garcia and Emma Morgan swept the singles competition without losing a set.

Ada Payne and Hannah Sloth took No. 1 doubles play, while Kelly D’Ambrogia and Grace Slembrouch won the No. 2 doubles match, also in straight sets.

Casa Grande couldn’t make up with two good doubles performances what it missed in singles play, losing a North Bay League match at home to Maria Carrillo, 5-2.

Maria Carrillo swept singles play, but Casa Grande won two of the three doubles matches with its No. 2 duo of Sally Nanez and Michelle Ruiz and No. 3 team of Danielle Rebullida and Stephanie Buot coming up winners.

Volleyball

Casa Grande recorded a dominating win at home, handling Rancho Cotate, 25-15, 25-18, 25-16.

Gabby Banaszek had a huge night for Casa Grande with 17 kills and 27 assists. Kayleigh Hart had eight kills, while Sydney Manning had 17 digs and Hannah Barlow nine digs.

Petaluma got off to a good start, but couldn’t maintain the momentum, losing a thrilling Sonoma County league showdown to Sonoma Valley, 24-26, 23-25, 25-10, 25-11, 15-11.

Alyssa Mcclure had 11 kills and Morgan Giraud nine for the Trojans. Genevire Franzini came up with 24 digs and Joelle Krist 17, while Maddie Meheiz contributed 31 assists.

The win was the seventh straight without a loss in SCL play for Sonoma Valley, while Petaluma is 5-2 in league.

St. Vincent continued undefeated in North Central League II play holding off Rincon Valley Christian, 25-22, 26-24, 20-25, 28-26.

Ali Fetter had nine kills and 22 assists and served six aces for the Mustangs. Mary Cerf had eight kills and Hannah Sarlatte had four kills and eight assists.

The win was the sixth straight without a loss against league opponents for the Mustangs, who are 11-6 overall.
