The Petaluma Panthers Jr. Midgets rolled to a 30-0 win over the Healdsburg Bulldogs.

On Petaluma’s first possession of the ball, quarterback Jadon Bosarge ran the ball 44 yards for the team’s first TD.

In the Panthers next possession, running back Garrett Freitas zigzagged his way 41 yards through the Bulldogs and into the end zone for the Panthers’ second TD.

During the next quarter, Bosarge ran 20 yards for another touchdown.

The Panther’s defense stuffed Healdsburg and gave the Petaluma offense the ball back with just over a minute remaining in the half. It took only two plays for running back Dominic McHale to cover the 28 yards to the end zone, making the score 24-0 at halftime.

To open the second half, kick returner McHale returned the kickoff back 70 yards for a touchdown to put the game into scrimmage, 30-0.

The Panther offense could not have exploded without key blocking from Rory Morgan, Cole Kuper, Lorenzo Zuniga and the rest of the line.

The Petaluma defense kept Healdsburg out of the end zone with great plays from Aiden Offermann, Kevin Ortiz, Zac Register, Victor Medina and Carson Kerrigan.

The next panther game will be against Rohnert Park Warriors at Rancho Cotate High School.

In other Panther games against Healdsburg: the Mitey Mites lost, 28-6; the Jr. Pee Wees lost, 28-0; the Pee Wees won, 28-0; and the Midgets won by forfeit.

A week earlier, the Panther Jr. Midgets played the Redwood PAL Bears and fell, 28-0. The PAL Jr. Midgets were undefeated going into the game.

The Panthers went into the game confident, and stopped PAL’s offense the first series.

The Panthers then had the ball and faced a defense that had been scored on only once this season. The Panthers were stopped and turned the ball over to the PAL offense, which quickly scored on a long run. PAL kicked the extra point, and that took all the fight out of the Panthers.

However, PAL was not finished. It scored again before the first half was over, but didn’t make the PAT. The half ended with PAL leading, 14-0.

To start the second half, the Panthers threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown as PAL extended its lead to 22-0.

Then, in the middle of the third quarter, PAL’s running back broke several tackles to take the ball on a long run for another PAL score, which put the game into scrimmage.

The final score was 28-0.
