Sammon, Healy NCL II Most Valuable Players

The heart of the St. Vincent High School offense and the soul of its defense lead the North Central League II All-League football team as selected by the league coaches.

George Sammon was selected the league most Valuable Offensive Player and Sean Healy was picked the defensive MVP. Both are seniors.

Sammon led the Mustangs in both rushing and receiving. He ran for 1,365 yards and 19 touchdowns, averaging nine yards a carry. He also caught 25 passes for 528 yards and seven touchdowns. His 26 touchdowns probably set a school record.

Healy, a linebacker, led the Mustang defense with 88 tackles, 43 solo. He also handled the team’s punting, averaging 39.9 yards a kick. It was his second straight year to make all-league first team.

Also named to the first team offense from the North Central League II champion Mustangs were junior quarterback Dominic Pedersen, senior wide receivers Kyle Dannewitz and Zach Sitchler, senior offensive linemen Tyler Schmidt and Justin Sablik and junior offensive lineman Will Tarrant.

Selected first team defense were senior linemen Jordan Peck and Sablick, junior lineman Tarrant, senior linebacker Jacob Farina and senior defensive back Austin Booth.

Chosen to the first team offense from Tomales were senior running back Willy Lepori and senior offensive linemen Dante Feliciano and Alex Plomares.

Placed on the first team defense from Tomales were senior lineman Alex Palomares, senior linebacker Connor Freeman and senior defensive back Joel Gutierrez.

Honored with honorable mention notice from St. Vincent were Pech on offense, junior running back Manny Reyes, senior linebacker Paul Gregorian, senior linebacker Jas Murray and Sammon as a defensive back.

Tomales honorable mention picks were senior running back Ivan Gomez, junior linebacker Jonny Barajas and Lepori on defense.
