Petaluma’s Purewal is MVP
Petaluma’s on field and inspirational leader, midfielder Tarwinder Purewal, is the Sonoma County League boys soccer Most Valuable Defensive Player.
The senior Trojan captain was the leader of an outstanding Petaluma team that went 16-5-2 on the season and won the SCL championship with a 10-1-1 record.
He heads a list of five Trojans who earned all-League first-team accolades from the league coaches.
Also named to the first team were junior defender Luis Rodriguez Flores, senior defender Simon Lindsay, sophomore midfielder Dino Santia and junior midfielder Tyler Guptill.
Petaluma’s veteran coach Greg Lamansky was named Coach of the Year.
Analy senior Ivan Galvan was named Most Valuable Offensive Player.
Chosen to the second team from the Trojans were sophomores Magnus Hultquist, Ethan Water and Marco Silveira, along with seniors Max Crysdale and Ben Seymour.
Petalumans Kevin Rojas, a junior; Alex Sosa, a freshman and Julio Hernandez, a senior, received honorable mention notice.
