Gauchos take two titles in NBL mat tournament

Angelo Arcamo and Josh Black claimed titles for Casa Grande High School in the North Bay League Wrestling Championships held Saturday at Cardinal Newman high School.

Arcamo and Black will lead a contingent of five Gauchos who qualified for the North Coast Section championships to be held Friday and Saturday at James Logan High school in Fremont.

As a team, Casa Grande finished fifth in the NBL meet. Windsor won the tournament with 285 points, followed by Ukiah (208), Maria Carrillo (198), Cardinal Newman (183), the Gauchos (157), Montgomery (73), Rancho Cotate (62) and Santa Rosa (17).

By weight class, here is how the Gauchos fared:

Julian Majano was sixth at 106 pounds.

Jason Goldblatt lost to Auston Wilson of Windsor in the finals at 113, finishing second and earning a spot in the NCS tournament.

Arcamo defeated Conner Rogers of Maria Carrillo in the finals to win the title at 120.

Ryan Mishler was fifth at 126.

Matt Beck finished third at 138, qualifying for the NCS meet.

Morgan Stewart was sixth at 145,

Jacob Black was fourth at 160 pounds.

Josh Black won the 170-pound title by beating Eduardo Mora of Windsor in the title match.

Donovan Brown was fourth at 182.

Jacob Wright finished fourth at 195 pounds.

Kameron Chase took third at 220 and is on his way to the NCS meet.
