Petaluma Little Leaguers are swinging for the City Championship in what, for most, will be their last tournament with their regular-season teams.

Every Major League team from each of Petaluma’s three Little Leagues - National, American and Valley - is involved in the tournament. Teams are divided into three pools with the top two finishers in each pool, along with two wild-card teams, going into a single-elimination championship round. The championship game will be played June 20 at Carter Field on the Petaluma Junior High School campus.

In pool A are the Valley No. 1 seed Roland Insurance, the American No. 2 seed Henris Roofing, along with Steven J. Lafranchi and Associates from the National League, Petaluma Police from the Valley League, Scott Cramer from the American League and Elks Lodge 901 from the National League.

In Pool B are the National’s No. 1 seed McNear’s, the Valley’s No. 2 seed Century 21 along with Maselli & Sons from the American League, Beyond the Glory from the National League, Whitman Insurance from the Valley League, Beyond the Glory from the American League and EMG from the National League.

Pool C features American No. 1 seed Petaluma Valley Athletic Club and National No. 2 seed Ohana Construction, and includes Peterson’s Paint from the Valley, Athletic Edge from the American, Lucky 7 from the National, Athletic Edge from Valley and Pinky’s Pizza from the National.

Tournament of Champions

Following the City Championships, the regular-season championship teams from all three Petaluma teams will compete in the Tournament of Champions, featuring the top teams from almost all District 35 leagues. That tournament begins June 22.

Petaluma American’s champion will open at Fort Bragg. Petaluma National is home to Ukiah and Petaluma Valley hosts Rincon Valley in the first round. The championship game will be at the home of the Rincon Valley Little League on June 25.

All-Star Tournaments

All-Star play starts July 1.

In the 9-10-year-old District 35 Tournament, Petaluma Valley and Petaluma National go head-to-head in the opening round, playing on the Mark West Little League diamond in Santa Rosa. Petaluma American opens against Rincon Valley on the Rincon Valley diamond in Santa Rosa.

The District 10-11-year-old tournament starts July 3, with Petaluma National hosting all games at Carter Field. Petaluma American opens the tournament against Rincon Valley. Petaluma Valley and Petaluma National both draw first-round byes with the Valley playing the winners of the Ukiah/Mark West game and the National facing the winner of the Santa Rosa American/Willits game on July 5.

The Major League Tournament for the 11-12-year-old teams that are eligible to go to Williamsport, Pa., for the Little League World Series, starts July 2. Petaluma American hosts Westside from Santa Rosa in the first round with Petaluma National and Petaluma Valley going head-to-head on the Valley’s Murphy Field diamond.

The new 50-70 Division using a modified diamond with base runners allowed to lead off, will have a four-team tournament beginning June 20. A combined Petaluma/Rancho Cotati Little League team will play Mark West in the opening round. On the same day, El Molino faces Rincon Valley.

Petaluma does not have a Junior League, but will have two teams in the Senior League Tournament beginning June 22 at Maria Carrillo High School. In the first round, a combined Petaluma Valley/Petaluma National team plays Rancho Cotate Little league. On June 23, Petaluma American faces Mark West.
