Tomales High’s Braves football team bounced back into the win column Saturday afternoon, holding off Rincon Valley Christian’s Eagles, 34-20. The Braves were coming back from their first loss of the season, a 68-6 defeat at Point Arena, and are now 3-1 on the season and in the Bay Football League.

Tomales built a 20-7 first half advantage, and then played the Eagles pretty much even over the last two periods.

Ty Evenich had touchdown runs of 25 and 20 yards in the first period.

After a 4-yard touchdown pass from Paul Bartholow to Corey Olson had cut the Tomales lead to 12-7, quarterback Jonny Barajas ran in from the 1-yard line to increase the Brave lead to 11 at the mid-break.

Cuevas scored twice for Tomales in the second half, both on 3-yard runs. The Eagles answered on a 38-yard pass from Olson to Willie Maples and on a 5-yard run by Ty Hawkins.

When the dust settled Tomales (3-1) was back on the winning side, while Rincon Valley Christian (0-3) was still looking for its first win.
