Homecoming did not turn out well for Tomales High School’s body-missing Braves as they were beaten by Upper Lake, 44-16, on Saturday afternoon in a North Central League III contest.

Tomales suited up only 12 players, three of them freshmen, for the game.

Among the missing was the Braves’ leading ball carrier, Ty Evenich, who missed the game because of an injured leg.

The loss dropped the Braves to 3-2 for the first NCL III 8-man season.

Upper Lake, with the win, is now 3-1 on the season and in league.

Tomales will hope to bounce back this week, but the Braves face an uphill battle playing at unbeaten Calistoga. The Wildcats’ umblemished season includes a 54-16 victory over Upper Lake.
