Everyone participated in the scoring party for the Petaluma High School girls basketball team as it romped to a 53-12 win over Elsie Allen in the Petaluma gym Friday night.

Playing in their home gym, not only did every T-Girl get into the game, almost everyone scored.

By the numbers, Petaluma received points from:

Emily Corda, 8, Nichole Costa 6, Brittney Tomrose 4, Kailee Silacci 4, Courtney Temple 1, Olivia Baldwin 4, Emily O’Keefe 2, Kelsey Martin 4, Ava Chabot 11 and Angelina Scacclosi 7.

The game was never a contest.

Costa got inside and popped in a short jump shot to give Petaluma the game’s first four points and the Trojans never trailed.

Elsie Allen had one brief glimpse at hope when Roidan connected on a 3-pointer to pull the Lobos to within a point at 4-3, but it was their only points of the first quarter, and by the time the first round ended with Petaluma on top 14-3, Trojan coach Janelle Robello was substituting freely.

The win was just the fifth of the season against 14 losses for Petaluma, but three of the victories have come against Sonoma County League teams, leaving the Trojans 3-3 for the first half of the league season.

“We’re getting better game by game,” said Robello. “Our goal is to take what we’ve improved on and move on to the next area.”

The coach acknowledged that the loss of freshman center Jaden Krist to an ankle injury hurts, but noted it was also an opportunity for other players.

“You can’t lose a starting player and not feel it,” she said. “But it gives other players a chance to step up and contribute.”

Loss at Healdsburg

Petaluma couldn’t maintain its fast early pace and lost, 57-37, at Healdsburg earlier in the week.

The T-Girls zipped into a 19-13 first-quarter lead, but never reached double digits in any of the following three periods.

Baldwin led Petaluma with 13 points.

Hailey Roux scored 20 points for Healdsburg, passing the 1,000-point plateau for her career in the second half. She has now scored 1,008 points in her Greyhound career.
