Petaluma rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to pull out an important 4-3 Sonoma County League win over Piner in Santa Rosa on Tuesday afternoon.

Piner rallied for three runs in the last of the sixth inning for a 3-2 lead before the Trojans came back to win in the top of the seventh.

Relief pitcher Luke Wheless made the rally stand good by shutting Piner down in the bottom of the inning.

Jared Robison pitched six strong innings for the Trojans, scattering six hits and three walks.

Wheless and Logan Douglas each collected two hits for Petaluma, with each doubling. Wheless scored two runs and Douglas knocked in two.

The win improved Petaluma’s SCL record to 6-1. Overall, the Trojans are 12-6.

Robison tames Lions

Last week, Robison tamed El Molino’s Lions with a masterful pitching performance, throwing a three-hit shutout in the Petaluma Trojans’ 4-0 victory.

Robison was masterful, walking just one batter and hitting one in his route-going seven-inning performance. He struck out a season-high nine.

Petaluma produced more than enough support for its pitcher with two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth off El Molino starting pitcher Sami Austion.

Douglas collected two of Petaluma’s seven hits, including a double. He scored a run and knocked in a run. Other hitters for the Trojans were Wheless, Kempton Brandis (double), Porter Slate, Danny Marzo (triple) and Drake Paretti.
